Digital Imaging Services Include:

Digital radiographs may represent the greatest technogical advancement in medical imaging over the last decade. The use of photographic films for x-ray imaging will be obsolete in a few years. Images can be taken immediately, examined, deleted, corrected and subsequently sent to a network of computers in a matter of minutes. One of the most useful advantages of digital radiographs is the ability it gives clinicians to send images to other practitioners in a matter of minutes, even while talking on the telephone.

Ultrasound diagnostic procedures can be done to determine organ health, and to identify growths or masses that may be harder to see on a radiograph (x-ray), or used to get more specific information about something previously found on a radiograph. Using ultrasound can also assist in determining if a pet is pregnant and a possible gestation timeline.

Microchips are a reliable way to identify your pet, without the worry of a collar that can get lost. A microchip is a small computer chip the size of a grain of rice that is inserted into your pet's skin between its shoulder blades. You, the owner, then register the chip with your personal contact information. If your pet is lost, animal shelters and other veterinary clinics scan your pet to retrieve your contact information.

Chiropractic is a technique that involves the manipulation of the musculoskeletal system especially the spine,or manual therapy manipulation of joints and soft tissue.

The most common therapeutic procedure done by our doctors is known as a spinal manipulation, also called a Chiropractic Adjustment. The purpose of the manipulation is to restore the joints mobility by manually applying a controlled force into the joint that has become hypo-mobile or has restricted the patients movement and a result of an injury.

Like Acupuncture our Chiropractic exams require a through exam which sometimes require Radiographs. Patient history is also of vital importance to our evaluation.

How long does a chiropractic evaluation take? The amount of time depends on the severity of the condition and whether or not physical therapy is recommended. However most Initial exams take about an hour.

Physical Therapy

The goal of physical therapy is to improve the quality of life and decrease pain. Techniques used in therapy are passive range of motion, balance of motion, and strengthening exercises.

  • Passive range of motion - (PROM) is accomplished through flexion and extension of the joints to its limits. This therapy technique can significantly increase an animal's range of motion and decreases joint pain, improving its quality of life.
  • Balance Exercise - Balance exercises make use of equipment designed to strengthen weak muscles and builds limps affected by atrophy. These exercises include balancing on physio-balls, wobble boards and balance boards. Balance exercises force the pet place weight on the affected limp and help build muscle. These exercises may shorten recovery time from surgical repairs and help improve coordination and balance.
  • Strengthening exercises - These include walking up/down stair's, sit stands, standing on 2 or 3 legs, and backing. These exercises promote healing by strengthen the muscles in the injured area and increasing the range of motion with animals with degenerative diseases.

Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

Tendons and ligaments connect muscles to bone, making it possible for your pet to walk, jump, and move. Once injured, tendons and ligaments do not heal easily because they naturally have poor blood supply, particularly where they connect to bone. As a result, the tendons and ligaments become weak and the muscles become over-taxed causing chronic pain, weakness and further damage.

Common treatment options include: rest, anti-inflammatory medicines, physical therapy, and some times corticosteroid injections. For some patients, these treatment options are not enough provide long-term relief.

Now there is a new treatment that is accelerating the way pets heal from chronic problems like arthritis, injured ligaments , and strained muscles.

Blood contains platelets and fibrinogen, which play a crucial role in blood clotting and also carry certain growth factors that promote wound healing. PRP is derived from your pets own blood, which has been processed to concentrate the platelets. When injected into the injured site, these concentrated platelets contain powerful growth factors that can jumpstart the healing of injured tendons and ligaments by stimulating tissue repair and regeneration.
